Made some doors

The title says it all - I spent the weekend finishing off these doors for the Pizza oven. Other than fixing up the grouting, that's the lot for the oven.

Slow progress...

Here's the latest on the Pizza oven, as you can see it's really coming on. This is after the 2nd layer of special heat rendering (with a fire blanket between the two layers).

Notice that the cat netting melted when the wooden framework was burned out.

Here is the inside after the wooden frame was burned out.

Here it is after final rendering.

Here you can see the granite we've got for the top, we'll then be tiling the front of the oven itself with small ceramic tiles.

Build Sequence

OK Here's a swag of photos of the Pizza oven in progress - taken by M whilst we were on holiday.

Base begins

M's been hard at work on the Pizza oven, whilst we soaked up the sun in the UK. Here's the base being constructed.
Note we've got two doors to go on, the front to store the wood, and the size is a store for some of the pool bits and bobs.

Site...

Here's the site for the wood fired pizza - now a nicely concreted base...

More Dry runs

Michael has done yet more dry runs on the wood fired oven, it's not proved as easy as originally though - it's not exactly hard, but the kit didn't fit together quite as published, and needed a reasonable amount of tweaking to get it to form a perfect arch.

We're still waiting for the footings to be poured - so possibly we won't be having home cooked pizza's as soon as we return.

Dry Run

Michael had a dry run of building the pizza oven...

The beginning

After thinking about it for a long time, and with Michael keen to give it a go (since he'll be doing all the hard work !!!) we've bought a wood fired pizza oven - or at least a kit to build one.

This place sells kits including everything (fire bricks, chimney, insulation etc. etc.) needed to build one of these.

or these

or perhaps something like this

or this

Currently THIS is what our pizza area looks like. It's a (now) vacant bit of land to the right of our pagola. The sun dial marks Mr Darcey's burial spot.

And here's what the pizza kit looks like (most of it anyway)...

Initial preparations have so far consistered of ordering take home pizza last night, and feeling sick all night due to over-indulgence. Now I'm off to work, thankfully tomorrow (Monday) is a public holiday here, and I've got the day off.
